Mayweather and Paul, the brother of Jake Paul, were originally scheduled to take part in an exhibition on February 20 but the event was postponed for unspecified reasons. The announcement on Tuesday didn’t indicate whether the fight would be an exhibition or a sanctioned bout.
Mayweather, 44, was last in the ring in December 2018, when he stopped Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in an exhibition. His last sanctioned bout was his 10th-round knockout of Conor McGregor, who was making his boxing debut.
Paul (0-1) lost a decision to fellow YouTube star KSI in his only sanctioned boxing match, in 2019.
