Who made Senior Bowl director’s 2-round Dolphins draft projection

The Miami Dolphins’ 2021 NFL Draft class will be complete a week from today. And after months of speculation, we’ll finally have answers as to which players the Dolphins truly covet and which players the Dolphins are going to ask to take their team to the next level. But of all of the mock drafts and projections for the 2021 NFL Draft, few are more interesting than the one that was provided this morning on SportsCenter courtesy of the Senior Bowl’s Executive Director, Jim Nagy.

Nagy is a prominent figure in the scouting community and offers ample experience as an NFL scout. His gauge on the league offers some added intrigue not just into the players given to Miami, but which players he anticipates are going to be available in what draft slots.

Nagy’s projection for Miami? A home run.

Chase’s availability at No. 6 overall is up in the air due to the presence of the Cincinnati Bengals and the chance to reunite him with former LSU QB Joe Burrow. Harris’ skillset is a strong fit with Miami and the Dolphins will likely get a swing at him at No. 18 overall but there’s little chance they’d see him available at No. 36 overall. Ojulari being projected available at No. 36 overall is a bit of a surprise, as he’s generally considered to be one of the top available pass rushers at a premium position. And Meinerz has plenty of obvious connections to Miami due to his presence at the Senior Bowl and sharing an alma mater with Dolphins’ co-offensive coordinator Eric Studesville.

As Nagy points out, these additions would have the potential to be significant upgrades for Miami in all four spots. Harris and Chase are immediate upgrades, whereas Ojulari would simply need to find his role as either a rush linebacker or defensive end in Miami’s system and Meinerz would need to further acclimate himself to a big leap in level of competition.
