Von Rachell to announce Colts’ second-round pick in 2021

Colts will have a special pick announced in Round 2.

When the Indianapolis Colts are on the clock for their second-round pick in the 2021 NFL draft, it won’t be NFL commissioner Roger Goodell who will announce the pick. Instead, it will be 8-year-old Von Rachell.

The NFL announced Friday the pool of special picks in the draft and those who will be announcing them. For the Colts, it will be Rachell, who is an Indy native and Colts fan.

Indianapolis Colts – Von Rachell (St. Jude Children’s Hospital): As a part of the NFL’s PLAY 60 partnership with St. Jude, 8-year-old Von who is an Indianapolis native and Colts fan, will make the Colts second round Pick. Von became a patient of St. Jude in January 2019 after having a recurrence of anaplastic ependymoma, a brain cancer. At St. Jude, he had brain surgery to remove the tumor and proton therapyto successfully eradicate the cancer.

The Colts currently hold the No. 54 overall pick in the second round, and it will be interesting to see what direction the Colts go in. It all depends on what the Colts do with their first-rounder, which many believe will be traded away.

The NFL also released a list of 32 current players and legends that will be making selections for teams on Day 2 of the draft. For the Colts, it is supposed to be former safety Antoine Bethea but seeing as they only have one pick, it isn’t clear how that is going to work.
