What started as a simple idea for Jaguars fans to band together and buy future quarterback Trevor Lawrence a smart toaster and Dyson vacuum for his wedding has grown into something much, much larger. With fan donations vastly exceeding the cost of the home appliances, the fan who started the fund, Eric Dillard, decided to donate the rest of the funds to charities in Jacksonville.
Following this decision, Lawrence announced that he and his wife Marissa would be adding $20,000 to the donations from Jags fans. In addition to the Lawrences’ contribution, Revolution Cooking, and professional golfer Billy Horschel each chipped in with major donations, as well. According to Dillard, the fund has now raised over $54,000. The money that has been raised will go toward three charities: Feeding Northeast Florida, K9s for Warriors, and Five Star Veterans Center.
After an incredible week of giving I’d like to update everyone on where the Toaster for Charity money is going!!
Special thanks to @Trevorlawrencee, @BillyHo_Golf, @RevCooking, and to everyone who donated! pic.twitter.com/wnPsSPOuou

It’s early interactions with the fans like this that indicate Jacksonville will be a good match for Lawrence. Of course, the team’s future with him will depend on his play on the field, but it’s awesome to see the city of Jacksonville getting a figure who will help the community in a significant way.
With the NFL draft less than a week away and all indicators pointing to the Jaguars taking Lawrence, it won’t be long before he is officially a part of the community he’s already building ties with.
