While some 49ers players took to the internet Wednesday to express excitement over the NFL’s relaxed regulations on which jersey numbers can be worn by which positions, Brandon Aiyuk took the opposite approach.
Aiyuk played his college football at Arizona State. Their football team’s Twitter account posted a tweet Wednesday that pondered whether Aiyuk would move back to the No. 2 that he wore in college. The tweet was complete with an edited photo of Aiyuk in a No. 2 49ers jersey.
The receiver responded with a brief, but pointed tweet indicating he’s happy with the No. 11 jersey he wore during his successful rookie campaign in San Francisco.

If Aiyuk did want No. 2, he’d have a little bit of a hurdle to clear with quarterback Josh Rosen currently occupying that jersey.
However, Aiyuk appears content to roll with the No. 11 he wore while racking up 60 catches for 748 yards and five touchdowns in 12 games as a rookie.
All of this is great news for fullback Kyle Juszczyk. The Harvard alum tweeted a photo of himself in college donning a No. 2 jersey and a thinking emoji for the caption.

If Aiyuk doesn’t want No. 2, the 49ers may have a player who does.
