Former LSU quarterback Joe Burrow was well on his way to Rookie of the Year before a severe left knee injury against the Washington Football Team back in November derailed those hopes.
Burrow had completed over 65% of his passes for 2,688 yards with 13 touchdowns and five interceptions before being forced to the sidelines.
Since then, Burrow has undergone surgery and has invested a large amount of time into his rehab in order to get back onto the field for the start of the 2021 NFL season.
The signal-caller gave an optimistic update on just how all of that is going when he recently appeared on the Pro Football Focus podcast with Cris Collinsworth.
“I’m very optimistic about where I’m at and also where the team is at. Rehab is going very, very well and lifting is going very, very well. I’m in great shape. Legs feel good, knee feels good. There’s still a long way to go, but I’m expecting to be there on the first snap of 2021.”
“I’m expecting to play game one. I expect to take part in practice. I’m feeling really good. I’m ahead of schedule.”
Burrow’s status will be something to continue watching when we get closer to the fall, but things seem to look about as bright as they possibly can for the man at the helm of the Bengals offense for now.
