The Oklahoma Sooners will finally play their first spring game in two years on Saturday. Last year’s camp was canceled before it got started due to COVID-19.
On Saturday, the team will take the field to participate in this year’s spring game. The team is expecting a monster year in 2021 led by quarterback Spencer Rattler and edge rusher Nik Bonitto.
Going into the season there are plenty of questions for this team. Sooners Wire examines five questions ahead of the annual spring game.
Can the Sooners come out healthy?
Last season the Sooners had their fair share of injuries across the offense and defense. Wide receiver Jadon Haselwood and tight end Austin Stogner both dealt with their own concerns in 2020. The hope is both players will come out of the spring game healthy. On defense, Caleb Kelly is one key defender that has dealt with injury.

The Wide Receiver Breakdown
Last season Marvin Mims became the leading receiver for the team in an effort to replace the production lost by CeeDee Lamb going to the NFL. Along with Theo Wease, the two are expected to be the top receivers going into the season. The spring game provides an opportunity for Haselwood to try and claim a big role in the slot and take snaps from Drake Stoops. Last season Haselwood played 84% of his limited snaps in the slot. Other names to watch are Mario Williams and Cody Jackson.
Next, we look at the quarterback.
