Both Vince Carter and Julius Erving gave their thoughts on how far they see the Brooklyn Nets going this year. Vince Carter gave his take on “SportsCenter” after the Nets took care of business with Charlotte on Friday.
“Right now they’re the team to beat,” Carter said. In terms of winning the championship, the former Nets stressed, he is “still going to give it to the Nets right now just because of all the talent they have. … They have stars. They have MVPs.”
On the other hand, Julius Erving played devil’s advocate for his old team. Erving said on Danny Green’s “Inside the Green Room” podcast that he has the Philadelphia 76ers defeating Brooklyn in the playoffs: “We have an advantage coaching wise based on experience, with Doc (Rivers). … And then the ambition. I think of Ben (Simmons) and Joel (Embiid). These guys are hungry now. They’ve been projected, and they’ve been a part of what they call the process for several years.”
Vinsanity is rocking with Nets World while Julius Erving is trusting the process. If these two teams match up in the playoffs, it is going to be an epic series for sure. After the loss to the Sixers on Wednesday, Nets guard Bruce Bruce isn’t worried if the Nets are unable to secure home court advantage versus Philadelphia in the playoffs. He said he is “super confident” Brooklyn will steal a game at the Wells Fargo Center if it comes down to it.
