One former University of Tennessee basketball player was in action Saturday night and he contributed to his team’s sixth consecutive victory.
Former Volunteer Grant Williams scored four points, pulled down one rebound and dished out an assist as the Celtics outlasted Golden State, 119-114, at TD Garden in Boston.
Williams, a two-time Southeastern Conference Player of the Year during his days on Rocky Top, went 2-for-8 from the field and missed all three of his attempts from beyond the 3-point arc for the Celtics (31-26).
He was a first-round selection by Boston, going with the No. 22 overall pick in the 2019 NBA draft.
With the loss, the Warriors dropped to 28-29 on the season.
