Ben Simmons, and others, believe Sixers star Joel Embiid is the MVP

Ben Simmons and others believe that Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid is the MVP.

Philadelphia 76ers superstar big man Joel Embiid has had an amazing season. He entered Friday’s matchup with the Los Angeles Clippers averaging 29.8 points and 11.0 rebounds and he has made it look easy.  Despite battling double teams all season long, the big fella has continued to put up big numbers.

On Friday, Embiid had 36 points and 14 rebounds in a 106-103 win over the Clippers to maintain their lead for the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference. It was another dominant performance as he continued to go to work against constant double teams. He shot 10-for-20 from the floor and he was 16-for-18 from the foul line as he was living there all night long.

It just another example of why the big fella is in the running for the MVP award in 2021 and he has the attention of his teammates.

“I don’t think teams really know what to do when guarding him,” said Ben Simmons. “I think he’s clearly the MVP this season. He’s been so dominant and consistent this whole year and he’s been healthy which has been great for us. So, I don’t know how to stop him.”

Embiid also has the attention of college coach Rick Pitino who also used to coach in the NBA.

Embiid also has the MVP vote of ESPN’s Kevin Negandhi who is ready to give the award to the big fella after another dominant performance.

Also, considering that Embiid is averaging 34.5 points and 11.0 rebounds over the previous four games now, he is really making a late push to win the award.

He will have another game to show off his dominance on Monday against the Golden State Warriors.
