NFL plans to announce 2021 schedule after draft

The NFL announced that they will be releasing the 2021 schedule after the draft, a timeline they also followed in 2020

The Baltimore Ravens have a challenging schedule in 2021, taking on the AFC North twice, the AFC West, the NFC North, as well as the Miami Dolphins, the Indianapolis Colts, and the Los Angeles Rams. There are plenty of big-time matchups for the Ravens, and the league could schedule Baltimore to play in prime time on more than one occasion.

The NFL announced the schedule for the 2020 season after the draft. That  won’t change this year, as ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the league will follow that timeline again, releasing 2021 matchups sometime after the festivities in Cleveland.

With under two weeks to go before the draft, it would have come as a bit of a surprise for the NFL to suddenly release the schedule. Even though people want to know when the best games of the year are, the league needs to build a bit of anticipation while also ironing out any final minor details.

For the Ravens, this means they will have to wait to hear about when they face off with teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers, Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Rams, and more. One possibility is that the NFL has Baltimore and Pittsburgh face off on Thanksgiving night this season, a prime time matchup that was supposed to happen last year.

It will be interesting to see how the league decides to match teams up this year, especially with a 17th game being added to the schedule. Baltimore has a plethora of good games on their docket in 2021, but it will be at least a few more weeks before the full slate of games is released.
