Magic to sign Robert Franks from G League team to 10-day contract

Franks averaged 12.1 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 14 games this season to lead Lakeland to the G League championship.

On Saturday, it was reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic that the Orlando Magic will sign forward Robert Franks from their NBA G League affiliate to a 10-day contract.

Franks, who went undrafted out of Washington State in 2019, averaged 12.1 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 14 games with the Lakeland Magic this season. He averaged 16 points per game during the playoffs to lead Lakeland to the G League championship.

The Magic, who this week signed Devin Cannady from Lakeland, are also expected to sign Donta Hall to a 10-day contract and will need to cut one player to clear the needed roster space for Franks and Hall.

With the Magic in a clear rebuilding effort now, the organization looks to be surveying the free-agent market to potentially find a player that can stick around as the season winds down. The team has prioritized development for its younger players as Franks and Hall appear to be next in line.
