The Tennessee Titans are on the clock, and Jeff Kerr of CBS Sports is pulling the levers. Kerr writes that this is the second mock he’s done for the outlet, and to feel free to criticize or “rip it to shreds.”
No problem.
While Kerr starts the mock with accuracy, I feel like his pulse on player value might be weak.
His draft is one of the only ones I’ve seen with multiple tight ends going in the first round. Kerr qualified his selections by saying he was taking a “best player available” approach, but still, his draft is all over the map.
At No. 22 overall, Kerr has the Titans taking Purdue wide receiver Rondale Moore. Here’s what he had to say about the pick:
The Titans need a receiver to replace Corey Davis and they find one in Moore. He fits the Mike Vrabel mold of toughness in a player and has the explosiveness to dominate in the slot with A.J. Brown on the outside. Moore can make an instant impact in Tennessee.
I don’t have a problem with the selection, though there were other players on the board with a higher value.
Ole Miss wide receiver Elijah Moore was still available, as was Northwestern cornerback, Greg Newsome II (who wasn’t even in the first round), and even Notre Dame linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah.
I’ll give the mock an “E” for effort, but as far as the Titans go, Kerr could’ve done better. Granted, at this point we’ll take anyone not named Isaiah Wilson.
