Well, it’s safe to say that the Jets will be going quarterback with the No. 2 pick in the NFL Draft. Monday eliminated all doubt of that.
The New York Jets traded quarterback Sam Darnold to the Carolina Panthers on Monday in exchange for a 2021 sixth-round pick, 2022 second-round pick and 2022 fourth-round pick.
For Darnold, the somewhat expected exit from New York marks a new chapter for the 2018 No. 3 pick. But when it comes to Darnold’s Jets career, probably the most lasting memory was the heavily memed ESPN Monday Night Football graphic for when Darnold was out with mononucleosis.
It was that uneventful.
Thankfully, the Panthers’ social media team was all over the meme for the trade announcement.

Nicely done, Panthers.
Even if Darnold ends up a complete bust in Carolina, the trade will be worth it for that application of the Sam Darnold meme.
It never gets old.
