Outside of quarterback, wide receiver has been the most talked-about position concerning Texas’ 2022 recruiting cycle. Armani Winfield is already locked up, while Evan Stewart recently decommited. In-state prospects such as Stewart, Chris Marshall, and Jordan Hudson remain a priority, but Andre Coleman has been making progress out of the state.
Four-star Shazz Preston is one of the players Coleman has been working on. Preston announced his top seven schools on Friday. A majority come from the SEC, with hometown LSU leading the way.
Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi State round out the schools from the SEC in Preston’s top seven. His most recent offer, USC, also made the cut with Miami and Texas being the final two programs.
Preston has been compared to Oklahoma State’s Tylan Wallace, an in-state prospect Texas missed out on, by 247Sports. The two share a 6-0, 190-pound frame and are both elite in the air. Steve Sarkisian and Coleman will want to land this Louisiana native.
