The Hornets opened with their worst quarter of the season and never caught up in Brooklyn on Thursday, falling 111-89.
Charlotte came stumbling out of the gate in the first quarter while the Nets could hardly have played better. The result was the Hornets finishing 4-of-23 from the field and 1-of-10 in the opening frame and Brooklyn leading 32-11.
From there, the Hornets could never get back into the contest. The lead fluctuated between as much as 30 points and as little as 18 but Charlotte never truly challenged Brooklyn’s hold of the game.
Gordon Hayward and Devonte’ Graham each scored 13 points to lead the team in scoring.
