Combate Americas is finally making its return to action after halting operations due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The MMA promotion, which historically has targeted the Latin community, is resuming operations and will be doing it with major changes to the organization.
Combate Americas has rebranded and now will operate under the name Combate Global as it looks to expand internationally with the addition of athletes from territories outside of the U.S. and Latin America. On top of the new name, Combate Global has signed a new five-year deal with broadcast partner Univision, one of the largest American Spanish-language television networks.
The new deal between Combate Global and Univision calls for 30 live Combate Americas events to be televised annually for a total of 150 live events during the five-year deal. The first Combate Global is set for April 9 in Miami. Details of the fight card are expected to be announced soon by the promotion.
