Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards combined to score 22 points in the fourth quarter on Monday but the performances were not enough as the Minnesota Timberwolves suffered a narrow loss to the Brooklyn Nets.
Towns produced a team-high 31 points and 12 rebounds while Edwards finished with 23 points and 10 rebounds for his second career double-double to lead the Timberwolves, who trailed by as many as 13 points in the fourth quarter.
After trailing by 13, Minnesota went on a 9-0 run and nearly tied the game.
With just over one minute remaining, Edwards converted a putback layup to bring the deficit to three points. On the ensuing possession, Edwards stole the ball at halfcourt and nearly finished an and-1 opportunity but missed the free throw to tie the game.
Following a missed 3-pointer by Kyrie Irving, Edwards missed a floater that would have given the Timberwolves the lead. In the end, Minnesota came up just short after nearly pulling off the upset win on the road behind the play of Edwards.

The performance by Edwards continued a hot month of March, in which he is averaging 24.3 points per game. He has scored in double figures in each game during the month, including a career-high 42 points in a win over the Phoenix Suns on March 18.
Afterward, Edwards had the opportunity to catch up with James Harden as the former MVP offered some words of encouragement to the rookie. Edwards throughout the season has earned praise from his peers as the No. 1 overall pick continues to impress on the court.
