On Friday, the Philadelphia 76ers announced they upgraded rookie Paul Reed to a standard NBA contract after spending the first part of the season on a two-way contract.
The team did not offer specifics of the contract in the announcement but, according to Tim Bontemps of ESPN, Reed received a three-year, partially guaranteed contract. The first year of the contract is guaranteed while the final two years of the contract are not guaranteed.
Reed was named the NBA G League Most Valuable Player and Rookie of the Year last week after averaging 22.3 points, 11.8 rebounds, 1.9 steals and 1.8 blocks in 15 games. He shot 58.8% from the field and 44.4% from 3-point range.
The second-round pick ranked third among all qualified players in the G League in scoring and rebounding, and he was tied for third in steals. Reed also recorded a league-high 12 double-doubles throughout the season on assignment with the Blue Coats.
The Sixers signed Paul Reed, the No. 58 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, to a three-year deal over the weekend, with the final two years non-guaranteed, sources told ESPN. Reed, who was the MVP of the G League Bubble in Orlando, got double his salary for the rest of this season.

Since returning from the G League, Reed has logged three appearances with the Sixers. He recorded four points and three rebounds in nine minutes off the bench on Thursday during an eight-point win over the Los Angeles Lakers.
