Former Gators tight end Kyle Pitts continues to see his stock rise. After the latest mock draft from ESPN’s Mel Kiper showed him going fifth overall, CBS Sports’ newest update also shows Pitts in the top five. This mock draft has him going to Atlanta with the fourth overall pick.
Are the Falcons going to stick with Matt Ryan for 2021 (and possibly 2022), because if so they’ll need to continue to build around him, not to mention fix a floundering defense. Working from the premise that Ryan remains (there’s a $24.9 million dead cap hit if he’s a post-June 1 cut) and Atlanta adds arguably the best pass catcher in this class to the roster.
Though many expect the Falcons to select a quarterback (even potentially trade up for one), Pitts would be a big weapon for veteran quarterback Matt Ryan to use if he returns next season. If he were to be selected with the fourth pick, it would make him the second-highest tight end draft pick of all time and the highest in over 60 years dating back to Billy Cannon in 1960.
