2021 Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship placings and first-round leader predictions

Assessing the best PGA Tour prop bets for the 2021 Corales Puntacana Championship, with betting predictions for tournament placings and first-round leader.

Corales Golf Course in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, welcomes an alternate field of 132 for this week’s Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship. The event runs opposite the WGC-Match Play in Austin, Texas. Below, we’ll look for the best value bets in the 2021 Corales Puntacana Championship odds, with tournament placings and first-round leader PGA Tour picks and predictions.

Lee Hodges (+4000 to win outright) is the top player in the watered-down field at No. 54 in the Golfweek/Sagarin world rankings. He’s one of the many in this field looking to make the jump from the Korn Ferry Tour. Hudson Swafford (+12500) will try to defend his title from September as this tournament is played for the second time in six months.

Top 5: Taylor Pendrith (+650)

Pendrith, No. 64 in the Golfweek rankings, finished the 2020 portion of the schedule No. 2 on the Korn Ferry Tour points list. He has played just one PGA Tour event this year with a T-53 finish at the Puerto Rico Open, but he tied for 23rd in the 2020 US Open.

He’s long off the tee and should be well-suited for the 7,600-yard behemoth that is Corales Golf Course.

Top 10: Kelly Kraft (+900)

Kraft ranks second in this field with an average of 1.41 strokes gained on the field per round over 12 career rounds played at Corales Golf Course. He tied for 14th here in September following a T-5 in 2019 and a third-place finish in 2018.

He has missed four of five cuts in 2021, but he has shown he can compete against this caliber of field at this golf course.

Top 20: Josh Teater (+300)

The 41-year-old Teater has never won on the PGA Tour and his only KFT victory was in 2009 (then the WEB.com Tour). He resurfaced with a runner-up finish to Viktor Hovland at the 2020 Puerto Rico Open as an alternate-field event, and he tied for 22nd in that event last month.

Teater’s above-average off-the-tee and from tee-to-green and is without any glaring weakness in his game.

2021 Corales Puntacana Championship: First-round leader

Brandon Hagy (+4500)

Hagy is +4000 to win this event and gets a slight boost for the 18-hole lead. He’s coming off a runner-up finish in a much stronger field at last week’s Honda Classic.

He’ll be in the first group going off the first tee Thursday morning and will play in the most ideal conditions of the week in the Dominican Republic with rain and storms en route for Friday and Sunday.

Kelly Kraft (+8000)

Kraft has a 12:40 p.m. ET tee time Thursday but the 32-year-old has always started well in this tournament. In his three trips to Corales Golf Course, he has opened with two 68s and a 70.
