Colts’ Frank Reich, Chris Ballard attending Alabama’s pro day

Reich and Ballard are at Alabama’s pro day.

Indianapolis Colts general manager Chris Ballard and head coach Frank Reich are among those in attendance for Alabama’s pro day on Tuesday.

The Colts have likely sent representatives all over the country to take a look at pro days as the NFL draft approaches but it’s rare to see both Reich and Ballard attending together.

That said, this is the best of the best. There are several prospects the Colts are likely considering coming out of Alabama.

They won’t be in the market for running back Najee Harris and are unlikely to take quarterback Mac Jones after the Carson Wentz trade, but there are still plenty of prospects the Colts will have their eyes on.

On the offensive side of the ball, wide receivers DeVonta Smith and Jaylen Waddle will be the prospects to watch. However, it is highly unlikely that either of them come close to a range where the Colts could trade up. Maybe Smith falls to the teens due to weight concerns but that’s about as far as the reigning Heisman Trophy winner will go.

Another offensive name to watch for the Colts may be offensive tackle Alex Leatherwood, who could be on the radar in the second round. There are some concerns with his athleticism entering he pro day but he’s a powerful tackle with length.

On defense, it’s unlikely the Colts will be looking at interior defender Christian Barmore due to their depth at the position. But if cornerback Patrick Surtain II somehow falls to them, he would be a strong candidate in the first round.

The draft is just over a month away, but the smartest minds for the Colts are in attendance at Alabama’s pro day.
