TCU’s Gary Patterson says Chandler Morris hasn’t been released from Oklahoma

Former Oklahoma quarterback Chandler Morris still hasn’t been released from the Sooners.

Following the end of the 2020 college football season, the Oklahoma Sooners saw plenty of action in the transfer portal. Not just the incoming players from Penn State and Tennesee, but the outgoing talent as well.

The Sooners saw two quarterbacks exit in the portal with Tanner Mordecai to Southern Methodist and Chandler Morris to in-conference rival, Texas Christian. On Monday afternoon Horned Frogs head coach Gary Patterson stated that Morris still hasn’t been released from the Sooners.

TCU head coach Gary Patterson told reporters on Monday that the Sooners have not yet released Morris when asked if the signal-caller could be eligible in time for the 2021 season.

“We don’t know yet on Chandler, it looks like rules are going to change here real quickly,” Patterson said. “He still hasn’t been released by Oklahoma.” – 247Sports

Following the report, current TCU football players took to Twitter to voice their opinions on the situation revolving around Morris.

Morris is expecting to compete along with incumbent starter Max Duggan. At Oklahoma, he played in only certain packages when spelling Spencer Rattler. Provided his release is granted by season’s start, Morris could put pressure on the current starter.
