Indianapolis Colts restricted free agent cornerback Tremon Smith is reportedly signing a one-year deal with the Houston Texans, per Aaron Wilson of The Houston Chronicle.
Smith was a restricted free agent for the Colts. However, AL.com reported that Smith was not given a qualifying offer and because there was no tender placed on him, he is free to sign with the Houston Texans leading up to the new league year on Wednesday.
Smith was a special teamer and depth piece for the Colts in 2020. He played 10 games, recording two tackles.
Cornerback will be a big need to address for the Colts this offseason. They have some options in free agency and could be looking to add more depth during the draft.
Regardless, Smith will be heading to Houston barring a change leading up to the new league year.
