The Chargers will not tender defensive lineman Isaac Rochell, according to NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero.
Rochell, the team’s seventh-round pick of the 2017 NFL draft, is a restricted free agent.
He still could return to Los Angeles, just not on the restricted free agent tender.
Rochell is coming off one of his best season as a pro, where he totaled 26 tackles, 2.5 sacks and a tackle for loss.
Rochell was the team’s Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee in 2020.
Based on decision not to tender Rochell means that head coach Brandon Staley likely doesn’t see him as a scheme fit in the new system he is implementing.
