Kevin Durant’s injury just earned Domantas Sabonis a huge bonus

Kevin Durant’s injury just helped Domantas Sabonis earn his All-Star bonus.

With the Nets playing some of the best basketball in the league at the moment, the million dollar question is when will Kevin Durant be back? Brooklyn’s superstar has been ruled out of the All Star Game because his hamstring injury is more severe than we thought. As a result, the Pacers’ Domantas Sabonis will now replace him.

What this means for the 24-year-old big man is that he will now earn a bonus of $1.3 million dollars for being selected as an All-Star alternate. He currently averages 21.5 PPG along with 11.7 RPG, and has led the Indiana Pacers to a record of 15-15.

As for Nets coach Steve Nash, he isn’t that worried about losing his best player for a longer period of time.

“He’s an amazing, amazing basketball player, and anytime you have the Lamborghini in the garage, it’s meant to be on the road. So, we’re all disappointed. But the team is going to be fine for stretches without Kevin.”

In other words, Durant is Brooklyn’s ultimate weapon in competing for the championship this year. Once he is healthy, Nash is going to look forward to watching the two-time champ go to work
