The NFL world holds its collective breath in anxious anticipation of where star defensive end J.J. Watt will choose to play next. Fans in several markets, including Cleveland and Browns fans around the world, are hoping the three-time defensive player of the year decides to join their respective franchises.
Watt isn’t going to rush his decision. Since being released by the Houston Texans last week, Watt has been deliberate in exploring his options. According to Watt himself, that’s something he routinely does in life.
In a Twitter exchange with a fan, Watt admitted he’s not someone who rushes into decisions, no matter how big or small they might be.
“I scroll through door dash for like an hour before I pick a restaurant man…,” Watt wrote on Twitter. “You’re gonna have to give me a second to choose a new team and city.”
There is no timetable for Watt to sign anywhere. Getting him locked up before free agency begins on March 17th would seem to be a priority for any team with interest in signing him, and it behooves Watt to jump the market and choose his new team before then, too. And it could still be Cleveland.
