When the Philadelphia 76ers brought on Daryl Morey to be their new team president before the 2020-21 season, the plan was for him to help the Sixers get back on the right track following a brief detour in the woods in the 2019-20 season.
He quickly went to work by bringing in legitimate shooters in Seth Curry and Danny Green in order to provide the proper spacing for Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons to operate. Those moves have helped given Embiid the space he needs and he is in the MVP conversations in the early part of the season.
Ahead of the March 25 trade deadline, Morey is not done just yet. He is continuing to monitor teams and players in order to add more pieces to his bench. The bench unit has bench struggling recently and the team needs to add more to it.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, he has been very active on the phones:
Daryl Morey, their president, has been active and he’s always looking for the big blockbuster deal. That may not be available at this trade deadline, but two areas where the Sixers would like to improve I’m told, number one getting a four or five man power forward center, who can shoot the ball. Perhaps a player like Sacramento’s Nemanja Bjelica, who is available in this marketplace and then they have some specialists like Shake Milton, Matisse Thybulle, who do one thing well. Milton on the offensive end, Thybulle on defensive end. Can they find some more two way players for their bench as we get closer to the deadline?

Bjelica is a guy who the Sixers have been monitoring much more recently as he is a guy who offers stretch 4 capability. Morey is definitely a guy who is not afraid to pull the trigger on any big moves so it will be interesting to see what he does before the March 25 deadline in the NBA.
