Texas Football Recruiting: Three battles that the Longhorns need to win against Oklahoma

The Texas-Oklahoma rivalry is alive and well in the recruiting world. Here are three 2022 battles the Longhorns must win over the Sooners.

Texas and Oklahoma are more than just rivals on the football field.

The two schools are continually recruiting the same players, with the Sooners winning far more of those battles recently. Now, with Steve Sarkisian and his new staff in place, the Longhorns need to lock the borders back down and keep top prospects away from Lincoln Riley.

The foundation of any elite college football program is recruiting. Unfortunately, Oklahoma currently has the advantage in that department. To get back on the right track, the Longhorns will have to be able to beat the Sooners in more places than the Cotton Bowl.

As we head into the 2022 cycle, nothing is going to be different. The state of Texas is once again loaded with a ton of talent on both sides of the ball. The Red River schools will be dreaming of the type of recruiting classes that can be brought in.
