Just days after revealing he still feels the effects of a bout with COVID-19, Boston Celtics All-NBA small forward Jayson Tatum went off for 35 points against the Atlanta Hawks at TD Garden on Wednesday night, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the Hawks from winning 122 – 114 in the end.
Still, it was a promising performance to see the Duke product put up that kind of scoring on 11-of-21 shooting with 11 trips to the line and 10 of them successful. Tatum also pulled down 6 rebounds and as many assists for one of his better outings of the season. It’s clear the team needs help for when one of the Celtics star wings has an off night (Jaylen Brown had a solid stat line at first glance, but shot 6-of-20 from the field), but there’s at least a firm foundation to build off of.

Tatum and company will get a chance for revenge on Friday as they host the Hawks for the second installment of a home-and-home series predicated by the pandemic.
But until that arrives check out the clip embedded above to see his big night for yourself.
