Last year, then-Houston Texans head coach and general manager Bill O’Brien stunned basically anyone who even somewhat followed the NFL when he traded star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals for running back David Johnson.
As everyone predicted at the time, the trade backfired spectacularly, and the Texans proceeded to botch every aspect of their coaching and GM search. That process led to franchise quarterback Deshaun Watson demanding a trade. It also led to the release of J.J. Watt.
Well, Hopkins isn’t exactly hiding his preferred destination for Watt.
In an Instagram post on Tuesday, the Cardinals wide receiver openly lobbied for Watt to join him in Arizona.

He wrote in the caption:
“Let’s finish what we started…”
Since Watt’s release, he has been linked to teams like the Steelers (to join his brothers), the Browns, Bills and Packers. The Cardinals haven’t even been mentioned as a potential landing spot for Watt who will be 32 next season.
But Hopkins’ post was enough to draw the attention of Steelers receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster:
Hopkins was ready for that reply, though, and he did make a great point. It’ll be 70 degrees in Phoenix on Tuesday.
