3 things to know: Draymond Green and Steph Curry push the Warriors to blowout win vs. Cavs, 129-98

Draymond Green’s 16 assists paired with Steph Curry’s 36 points helped push the Warriors to a 129-98 blowout win over the Cavs on Monday.

After an underwhelming performance against the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday, the Golden State Warriors bounced back in a big way on Monday against the Cleveland Cavaliers. 

Steph Curry returned his electric form, tallying a game-high 36 points on an efficient 13-of-19 shooting from the field in 30 minutes. Curry torched the Cavaliers from deep, hitting seven triples on 11 attempts from beyond the arc. The two-time Most Valuable Player added six assists and two boards in Golden State’s 129-98 victory.

While Curry handled the scoring, Draymond Green controlled the game as Golden State’s quarterback. The former Defensive Player of the Year matched his career-high with 16 assists to go along with six points, eight boards and two blocks in 30 minutes. 

The Warriors will have the opportunity to close out their current four-game homestand with a 3-1 record if they can secure a victory against the Miami Heat on Wednesday. 

Moving the ball

On Monday, the basketball skipped around the court as the Warriors recorded 34 assists. Green led the way with 16 dimes, but five other Warriors added two or more assists. While Steph Curry notched six assists, Brad Wanamaker tallied four dimes off the bench for Steve Kerr’s second unit. 

Group effort

Behind Steph Curry’s game-high 36 points, five other members of the Warriors scored in double figures on Monday against the Cavaliers. While everyone but Draymond Green scored 13 or more points in the starting rotation, both Eric Paschall and Mychal Mulder notched double-figures off the bench. 

As a team, the Warriors shot 52.3% from the field. Along with a productive shooting night from the field, Golden State knocked down 17 3-pointers on 37 attempts from long distance. Seven of Golden State’s 10 active players drilled a 3-pointer against Cleveland. 

Highlight of the night

In the fourth quarter against the Cavs, Brad Wanamaker connected with Andrew Wiggins for an over the head lob worthy of any highlight reel.

While he pushed the ball down the floor in transition, Wanamaker flipped a crafty pass up for Wiggins as the trailer. Wiggins finished alley-oop with a powerful two-handed slam to cap-off Golden State’s blowout win over Cleveland.
