With James Wiseman and Kevon Looney sidelined due to injury, two-way forward Juan Toscano-Anderson has slid into the Golden State Warriors frontcourt.
Since joining the starting lineup on Feb. 4 against the Dallas Mavericks, the Bay Area native is averaging 8.7 points on 48.9% shooting from the field with 7.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists. Outside the boxscore, Toscano-Anderson consistently brings a relentless level of effort paired with dependable defense.
Despite his steady numbers, the Bay Area native is setting lofty goals when it comes to rebounds. Prior to Golden State’s contest against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday night, Toscano-Anderson revealed he would like to average close to 10 rebounds per game.
There is always standards that you always want to raise where we are. I’d be happy when I can get like a 14-15 rebound game. I think we can keep raising the bar and get better at that aspect…
Honestly, I want to try to average close to 10 rebounds per game. That was always my goal in the G League – I think I averaged nine point something. It’s hard to average 10 rebounds. That’s definitely a goal of mine. Kawhi Leonard always says, ‘board man gets paid.’ That’s where I find my value. Obviously, I’m going to try and find value throughout the floor, but yeah. I definitely want to get one of those 13, 14, 15 rebound games.

Since joining the Warriors in February of 2020, Toscano-Anderson has surpassed double figures in rebounds twice. The Marquette product notched a career-high 11 boards against the San Antonio Spurs on Feb. 8.
With Wiseman and Looney still recovering from injuries, Steve Kerr and the Warriors will continue to lean on Toscano-Anderson alongside Draymond Green in the frontcourt. With an increased role, Toscano-Anderson will have the opportunity to see his rebounding numbers increase.
