A pair of former University of Tennessee basketball players spent a portion of their Valentine’s Day in action on the NBA hardwood Sunday.
Both Boston’s Grant Williams and the Mavericks’ Josh Richardson saw their respective teams lose.
In Washington, D.C., the Celtics came up on the short end of a 104-91 decision against the Wizards Sunday afternoon.
Williams was held scoreless. He did, however, pull down a pair of rebounds for the Celtics (13-13), who lost their second consecutive game. Williams played 12 minutes for Boston. He was 0-for-1 from the field and missed a 3-point shot.
Meanwhile, in Dallas, the Mavericks had their 4-game winning streak snapped Sunday night as they fell to Portland, 121-118, at American Airlines Center.
With the loss, the Mavericks dropped to 13-15 on the season. The Trail Blazers are now 16-10 after winning their fourth straight contest.
Richardson, a shooting guard, started and logged 25 minutes of court time. He scored six points, dished out three assists and grabbed three rebounds against Portland.
Richardson went 3-for-7 from the floor. He was 0-for-3 from beyond the 3-point arc and also recorded a steal.
