Alex Crigger, Conner Hawkins, Georde Goodwyn sparkle in Nashville

Two UT distance specialists post personal bests in mile run and 5,000-meter run in Nashville.

University of Tennessee track athlete Alex Crigger had a big day in Nashville Friday.

Crigger, a senior distance specialist for the Volunteers’ men’ track team, posted a monumental performance in the 1-mile run as he shaved more than four seconds off his previous personal best time in the event at the Music City Challenge, which was hosted by Vanderbilt.

Crigger, a native of Johnson City, Tennessee, posted a time of 4 minutes, 4.23 seconds.

His time is now the seventh best indoor time in program history and the fastest time since Tim Pitcher’s 4:03.34 in 1991.

Redshirt junior Conner Hawkins also had a personal best at the Nashville meet on Friday as he completed the race in 4:05.15.

In the 5,000-meter run Tennessee’s Georde Goodyn posted a personal best time as he crossed the finish line in 14:56.25.

Goodwyn is a senior for the Big Orange and a graduate of Knoxville Catholic High School.
