Pelicans at Mavericks recap: Doncic, Porzingis catch fire, light up Pelicans

The Mavericks hit a barrage of 3s and beat the Pelicans in a shootout on Friday.

In a matchup that more closely resembled a typical NBA All-Star game than a typical regular-season contest, the Dallas Mavericks outsniped the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday night from 3-point range and won by 13 in a high-scoring shootout.

Zion Williamson made Pelicans history and went perfect from the field in the first half to keep New Orleans within four points at the break, but the Mavericks maintained an eye-popping percentage from outside the arc and took control in the third quarter.

A scoring burst from J.J. Redick helped the Pelicans close the gap, but the Mavs used an 8-0 run in the fourth to take a double-digit lead and held on the rest of the way. Luka Doncic scored a career-high 46 points, and Kristaps Porzingis scored 36 points with eight 3s in the win.
