Even the Bucs players were in awe of Patrick Mahomes’ unreal incomplete passes

“He’s a magician.”

It might not even be hyperbole to say that Patrick Mahomes threw the two most impressive incomplete passes in Super Bowl history … and he did so on back-to-back plays.

Even the Buccaneers players couldn’t believe what they were watching.

As a constantly hurried Mahomes was forced to scramble for much of the Chiefs’ 31-9 Super Bowl LV loss to the Bucs, the Tampa players were just like the rest of us at home watching as Mahomes tried desperately to make magic happen.

On Tuesday, NFL Films released mic’d-up video from the Bucs sidelines, showing that Chris Godwin and Mike Evans were practically in disbelief of the two incomplete passes that nearly went for astonishing touchdowns.

Godwin said of Mahomes:

“How did he — yo! Yo, he’s a magician. I’m convinced.”

Godwin said after Mahomes threw a 30-yard pass on a dime while parallel to the ground:

“How did he do that?!” To which Evans responded, “I don’t know.”

Of course, it’s easier as an opponent to take in just how unbelievably talented Mahomes is while up big in the Super Bowl. But that footage did offer a glimpse of how much genuine respect the Bucs had for the Chiefs quarterback.
