The latest Ferris Mower’s Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports was released on Monday and as expected, the Florida Gators took a tumble in the rankings, falling out of the top 25 for the second time this season.
The main reason for the drop was UF’s disappointing home loss to the South Carolina Gamecocks last Wednesday, a Quad 3 defeat that raised a lot of questions among the college basketball media. It also did not help that Saturday’s game against the LSU Tigers was postponed due to COVID-19 precautions, as well as Wednesday’s upcoming matchup with the Tennessee Volunteers.
The good news is that Florida appears to be just on the edge of the latest poll, effectively at No. 26 with their 43 votes, which puts them ahead of every other school that received votes. A strong return from its second coronavirus layoff could catapult the team back into the top 25, but there are still some hurdles left to face.
