The Kansas City Chiefs have released a statement on a multi-vehicle car accident involving OLB Coach, Britt Reid, son of HC Andy Reid.
“The organization has been made aware of a multi-vehicle accident involving Outside Linebackers Coach, Britt Reid. We are in the process of gathering information, and we will have no further comment at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved.”
According to a report from KSHB-TV, the accident occurred on Thursday night on the entrance ramp from Stadium Drive to I-435. Reid’s truck struck a disabled vehicle on the said entrance ramp. Two children suffered injuries in the crash, one suffering life-threatening injuries. KCPD is currently investigating to see if impairment was a factor in the accident.
Reid has worked on the Chiefs’ defensive staff in Kansas City since 2013 when his father first arrived as head coach of the team. He was promoted to OLB coach when Steve Spagnuolo’s staff first arrived in 2019.
Update: NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Britt Reid will not coach in Super Bowl LV on Sunday. Anticipate one of the other defensive assistants such as Matt House, Terry Bradden, Connor Embree or Alex Whittingham to step in and coach the outside linebacker group in his place.
