Vikings fans are divided on Kirk Cousins.
While some yearn for the days of Teddy Bridgewater or other Minnesota quarterbacks under center, other members of the fanbase defend Cousins and think he’s the answer to the Vikings’ championship problems. Vikings coach Mike Zimmer recently had high praise for his quarterback when talking with NFL Network’s Good Morning Football.
“Kirk’s our guy,” Zimmer told GMFB. “He had a terrific year this year. We have to get better on defense and that’s my job to get it fixed.”
Cousins is an efficient quarterback and comparable to some of the best passers in the league. That said, I’m not so sure he’s the solution anymore. Barring anything unexpected, though, the team is locked into Cousins for a few more years.
It will be interesting to see what the team does when Cousins’ contract runs out, which would be in 2022 under his current deal. He’s one of the better quarterbacks in the league, but considering the value that position has, it might behoove the Vikings to look for an elite-tier quarterback. That, of course, takes time.
