Heading into his rookie season with the Dallas Cowboys, CeeDee Lamb was expected to do big things. The former Sooners wideout did just that in a variety of ways. One such way was leading the NFL in catches of 20+ yards from the slot. He beat out a former Cowboys slot receiver in Buffalo’s Cole Beasley.
When it comes to the quarterback situation facing the Cowboys, Lamb didn’t mince his words. He wants his quarterback in Dallas when the season kicks off in September. Lamb spoke with USA TODAY Sports writer Jori Epstein about it on Wednesday.
“It’s no secret we want Dak back,” Lamb told USA TODAY Sports on Wednesday. “I trust that the guys in the office are definitely going to make the right decision. They know how much Dak means to us and how much we lean on him.
“I cannot wait to have him back.”
The former No. 17 pick in the NFL draft isn’t the only one waiting for Prescott to be back with the Cowboys. The free-agent quarterback is the talk of the league, outside of a recent blockbuster trade involving two passers.

Lamb only played a part of the season with Prescott, but most of his success came with Dak in the lineup. In his rookie year, the former Oklahoma Sooner recorded two 100-yard performances, both of which came prior to the Prescott injury. During those six games, Lamb caught 29 passes for 433 yards and two touchdowns. In the following 10 games, he caught 45 passes for 502 yards and three touchdowns.
Situation | Rec/Game | Yards/Game | Yards/Rec | TDs/Game |
With Dak | 4.8 | 72.2 | 14.9 | 0.3 |
Without Dak | 4.5 | 50.2 | 11.2 | 0.2 |
On a per game basis, Lamb was much better with Dak Prescott than without. Given his performance this past season, provided the Dallas Cowboys sign their quarterback, CeeDee Lamb should have another monster year.
