The class ranked as the No. 17 nationally and No. 2 in the Big 12 behind Red River rival Oklahoma. Throughout the year, Texas continually missed on recruits and even saw six players decommit and end up somewhere else.

To no fault of Steve Sarkisian, he tried the best he could in the short amount of time to put a bandaid on the deep cuts. Three-star defensive end David Abiara committed and signed on Wednesday after once being a verbal to Notre Dame. The Longhorns still missed on Austin Uke and L.J. Johnson but the failures date back to relationships with Tom Herman’s staff.
