Report: Matthew Stafford trade expected to be done by Super Bowl

Are the Colts the spot for Stafford?

The Indianapolis Colts are expected to be one of many teams interested in trading for Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford and it seems we may have an answer before Super Bowl LV kicks off in a week.

As Dave Birkett of The Detroit Free Press reported, the trade talks are escalating. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network added that a deal should be expected before the Super Bowl arrives on Feb. 7.

How much the Colts are willing to pay for Stafford isn’t clear. The Colts run a tight-lipped ship and hardly any news is coming out about their interest in Stafford. But it makes too much sense for them not to be interested.

And the Colts are hardly the only players in this race. The San Francisco 49ers and Denver Broncos are among some of the top suitors while the Carolina Panthers and New England Patriots may also be in play.

This will be something to watch over the next week or so, especially if the Colts really are near the top of the list for Stafford.
