After dropping 32 points in 42 minutes of action against the Atlanta Hawks in Brooklyn’s overtime win on Wednesday, Kevin Durant will be unavailable for the Nets on Friday against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Nets ruled their star forward out so he can rest his surgically repaired right Achilles.
Friday’s game against the Thunder will be the sixth Durant has missed this season and the third he’s sat out to rest his Achilles — he missed the other three due to the NBA’s COVID-19 health and safety protocols. Heading into Oklahoma City, the Nets are 2-3 without Durant this season.
In addition to Durant, the Nets remain without second-year forward Nic Claxton (right knee tendinopathy) and combo guard Spencer Dinwiddie (ACL surgery). The Thunder are only without point guard George Hill, who has been absent the last three games due to a thumb injury.
