Michigan State football has done a lot of internal hiring for coaches lately, and this one is no different. MSU has internally promoted Travares Tillman after one season as the senior defensive assistant. Tillman has followed Mel Tucker over the past few seasons including at Georgia and Colorado and he is now being rewarded for sticking with Tucker on his journey.
Tillman also has seven years of NFL experience as a safety after being drafted in the second round of the NFL draft. He played college ball at Georgia Tech. He also played with the Houston Texans, Carolina Panthers, and Miami Dolphins.

Harlon Barnett coached the corners last year. It’s unclear what Barnett’s role will be this season.
