Texans hire Ravens assistant David Culley as their head coach, all jobs now filled

Only Dan Campbell has any experience at all as a head coach

There was no coaching search for the Cleveland Browns this year, a very welcome change. But around the league, seven other teams did replace their head coaches.

It took some time, but the final head coaching hire is now final. The Houston Texans hired David Culley, the former passing game coordinator and assistant head coach for the Baltimore Ravens. Culley has no prior head coaching experience at any level of football and has never even been an offensive (or defensive) coordinator.

That makes Culley right at home with the new hires in this coaching carousel season. None of the seven men hired this offseason have been permanent head coaches before. Only Dan Campbell of the Detroit Lions has any experience at all; Campbell was the interim coach of the Miami Dolphins for 12 games.

The list of new coaches:

Chargers – Brandon Staley

Eagles – Nick Sirianni

Falcons – Arthur Smith

Jaguars – Urban Meyer

Jets – Robert Saleh

Lions – Dan Campbell

Texans – David Culley
