During the second leg of the Golden State Warriors’ two-game series with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Steph Curry debuted a special pair of kicks. The two-time Most Valuable Player wore a purple and black edition of his Curry Brand signature shoes that featured different images.
On one shoe, Curry’s kicked displayed photos of his daughters Riley and Ryan. On the other shoe, the late Kobe and Gianna Bryant were featured. Along with the custom photos, the words “Girl Dad” were striped across each shoe.
The debut of Curry’s new shoes comes one day after the anniversary of Bryant’s tragic passing. Tuesday, January 26 marked the one-year anniversary of the devastating helicopter accident in Southern California that claimed the lives of nine people, including Bryant and his daughter Gianna.
Following the painful loss of the Los Angeles Lakers legend, Curry was limited to the sideline due to injury in the 2019-20 season. The Golden State point guard wore a Bryant No. 24 jersey on the bench during the Lakers trip to Chase Center last season. In 2020-21, Curry was able to pay tribute to Bryant and Gianna on the court with his shoes.
