The #Eagles are hiring University of Florida OC Brian Johnson as their new QB coach, source said. The former Utah QB has impressed in the college ranks, including at Mississippi State where he served as Dak Prescott’s QB coach.

Johnson, who was a semifinalist for the 2021 Broyles Award — given annually to the top assistant coach in college football — was also in talks with the South Carolina Gamecocks for their head coach vacancy. As it turned out, that arrangement ultimately fell apart, opening the door for the former Florida OC to make his latest move.

It is a bit of a shame that he is moving to the professional ranks, as he was named the fifth-best recruiter in the nation for the class of 2021 by ESPN. Nonetheless, the talented coach has earned his shot at the highest level of the sport and the Gator Nation wishes him the best.
