Lions interviewing Rams CBs coach Aubrey Pleasant to be secondary coach

The Rams could be losing another assistant, this time Aubrey Pleasant.

The Detroit Lions hired former Rams director of college scouting Brad Holmes to be their general manager this offseason, and now they could be poaching one of Sean McVay’s assistants to bring along to Detroit.

According to Steve Wyche of NFL Network, the Lions are interviewing Rams cornerbacks coach Aubrey Pleasant for their secondary coach position. This would be a promotion for Pleasant, so McVay is unable to block the interview.

Pleasant was seen as a potential defensive coordinator candidate after Brandon Staley left to join the Chargers, but McVay went with Raheem Morris instead. It’s no surprise that Pleasant would entertain this opportunity, especially being from Flint, Mich.

He’s been with the Rams since 2017 when McVay hired him as the cornerbacks coach and has worked with players such as Marcus Peters, Aqib Talib, Jalen Ramsey and Darious Williams. The job he’s done with the Rams secondary has been impressive.
