The Philadelphia 76ers are getting set to take on the Boston Celtics on Friday night to finish off a quick two-game home series with them and they are also having Seth Curry return to the floor for the first time since Jan. 6.
Curry tested positive for COVID on Jan. 7 and he had to remain isolated from the team. As he gets set to take the floor on Friday, there will definitely be a minutes restriction for him as he works his way back with his conditioning and his rhythm.
“Yeah, I told him I was gonna play him 48,” jokingly laughed coach Doc Rivers. “There’s no actual restriction, but there clearly is a restriction. There’s only, I don’t know, how many minutes you can play.”
Curry’s conditioning level will tell Rivers how far he can truly go. The Sixers need to be very careful with him in these early games as he gets set to return. There is only so much the team can do with him right now as they will want to make sure he is healthy and ready to go for the long run.
When it comes to his minutes on Friday, Rivers will see what his shooting guard can do.
“Honestly, I don’t think a lot,” Rivers added. “Just from watching him and then the little bit we’ve done. I always jokingly tell the guys ‘your lungs will take you out probably before me’. We just have to watch and see what he has.”
Tipoff from the Wells Fargo Center is set for 7:30 p.m. EST as Philadelphia looks to pick up another win before hitting the road to face the Detroit Pistons on Saturday.
